MEET AND GREET BOY GEORGE ON JUNE 16. “This is one big party!” blurts out Boy George on his first super visit to the Philippines with Culture Club with several party opportunities!
Here’s you chance to meet and greet Boy and Culture Club  members Mikey Craig, Roy Hay and Jon Moss privately on June 16 at Novotel Manila, Araneta Center. MCA Music Inc. presents “Up Close and Personal with Boy George and Culture Club.” SVIP concert ticket at P25,000 entitles a photo opportunity, a two-disc album of Culture Club greatest hits and a commemorative concert T-shirt.
Only 100 of these tickets are for sale. Aside from attending the concert, SVIP ticket buyers can attend a “meet and greet” event and have their photo taken with Culture Club on June 16, 3 p.m., at Novotel Manila, Araneta Center. Tickets for the “meet and greet” event was available (cash payment) on June 10, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., at Greenfield District Central Park’s Kaleidoscope event area, which had a special Boy George and Culture Club night and sing-and-look alike contest.
But due to some travel issue beyond the control of Royal Chimes Concerts and Events Inc., their two-night super concert, “Culture Club Featuring Boy George Live In Manila,” will now be a one-night only party event on June 18, Saturday, at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Ticket holders for the June 17 concert can get their refund at a Ticketnet outlet or have them replaced with tickets for the June 18 show. Refunds and ticket swaps can only be done at the ticket box of Ticketnet at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Yellow Gate.
On June 16, Thurday, there will be a Boy-to-Boy interview where King of Talk Boy Abunda interviews Boy George in Tonight with Boy Abunda over ABS-CBN at 10:45 p.m.
Overwhelming excitement and outstanding reviews caused by Boy George and Culture Club’s performances from last year’s brief mini-tour of the U.S.  drove the group to announce their first full tour in over 12 years spanning 40 cities across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Australia and Asia.
Known for dominating the charts worldwide with their classic hits including “Karma Chameleon,” “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me,” and “Miss Me Blind,” the iconic band will kick off their reunion tour in Australia and will be in Manila on June 18 at the Araneta Coliseum.
This is the first time that Boy George and Culture Club (with Mikey on bass guitar, Roy on guitar and keyboards, and Jon on drums and percussion) will be performing in the Philippines. Those who grew up in the eighties as well as music lovers are excited and can’t wait to see them perform their greatest hits.
Though it’s a given that a lot from the LGBT community will flock to the Big Dome to see this show, many believe that Boy George and Culture Club’s music appeals to everyone because of its poetic lines and universal message.
Over time, George acknowledged that the audience has evolved.
“When people would ask, ‘Who’s your audience?’ I’m like, ‘Everyone.’ It literally can be young kids to very old ladies, you know, moms,” he said. “It used to be a lot of girls back in the days, and now we seem to get a lot more guys.”
As the first multi-racial band with an openly gay front man, Culture Club has set many records, including being the first band since The Beatles to have three top 10 hits in America from a debut album. In the eighties, the band dominated the charts in over a dozen countries, with multi-platinum albums and more than 50 million albums sold worldwide to date.
“Culture Club Featuring Boy George Live In Manila” is a production of Royale Chimes Concerts and Events Inc. Tickets are now on sale at Ticketnet (911-5555) or log on to www.ticketnet.com.ph. You can also use your BDO credit and debit card to purchase tickets and enjoy a 15 percent discount. For more information, call 0918-4972121 or 0906-4180786.
